      Dawson, (Cloghran) - October 24, 1930, at Cloghran, Co. Dublin, after a long ilness, Samuel Cuming Dawson, son of the late Richard Cuming Dawson and Eleanor Dawson, aged 69 years. Funeral at Swords Church to-day (Monday), 27th, 2:45 pm


      Flat racing
      Blandford was bred by the National Stud. Sold in 1920 bought by Mr SC Dawson and his trainer brother, RC (Dick) Dawson for 730 guineas.
      Ran only 4 times. Twice as a 2 year year old. He won 3 races ended with his success in the Princess of Wales Stakes 1 1/2 miles.
      He headed the list of stallions - 1934, 35, 38. RC Dawson won the Grand National with Drogheda in 1898.
      Leiut Colonel mac Cabe went to the Newmarket Dec sales in 1920 to buy Blandford but his friend RC Dawson, the Whatcombe trainer outbid him at 750 guineas.
