Word has been received of the death on Wednesday of Catherine (Kit) Whitney, 87, sister of Sr Anne Ryan (Rockdale). Kit had been resident in a Nursing Home in Glenfield for about 12 months. However, yesterday she took ill and was transferred to Liverpool Hospital where she suffered a heart attack about 8:20 am and died very soon after. Kit was a kind, loving, generous person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by 6 children: Peter, John, Tony, Jim, Mark and Elizabeth, and by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

The death is announced of Mr Andrew James Waters, of Murwillumbah, at the age of 76. He was born at Kelly’s Plais, where he was engged in the produce and timber industries for many years. He came to the Tweed about 30 years ago, and resided at Stoker’s Siding, where he conducted a sawmill, and later engaged in dairying. He had been an activ member of the Salvation Army for 51 years.
