      Mr James Mead
      Mr James Mead, who died on 2nd inst, was a naative of this district. His parents, the late Mr and Mrs James Mead, were among the early arrivals on the Rocky River goldfield and resided there until death. James was their eldest son and was 68 years of age at the time of of his death. He also followed mining and his residence at the Rocky was practically continuous. He was unmarried. His health had been failing for some time. He is survived by two brothers, Thomas (Rocky) and Arthur (Tingha) and three sisters Mrs M Taggart (Rocky), Mrs Arthur Crotty (Glen Innes) and MRs McDonald (Sydney). The burial took place in the Church of England cometery, a large number of relatives and friends,being present at the graveside. Rev F St John conducted the service.
