Notes: Mary Ann's family moved to Pretty Gully. Her husband and his father were gold miners. They built the Tooloom Hotel out of cedar and it is still standing on the property today. The young couple selected land known as Slaughtering Gully in 1912. In 1920 they bought his father's property. They lived there until John died in 1956. The property is now run by their son Herbert. Mary Ann was Post mistress at Upper Tooloom for thirty years. After her husbands death she moved to Urbenville and lived with her son Herbert, and daughter-in-law at Riverview. At the time of her death she had 32 grand-children and 58 great-grandchildren. and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She had 15 children and 9 of her children predeceased her. Her funeral service was held at St. Mark's Church of England at Urbenville.
