Death
News was received on Saturday of the death of Mr Thomas Merchant of Drake, whose illness we reported in the last issue, as also did we report the death of his eldest son in West Australia. Deceased leaves a wife and family in Tenterfield.

On the 26th ult. Mr T Merchant died aged 59. He was followed next day to the grave by a large number of friends.,

CURATOR’s LAND SALE - The Curator’s Agent (Mr W.J. Forrest) submmitted to auction, at noon on Friday last, a block of land situated at the corner of Douglas and Albert Streets, on the Clifford Estate, and in the estate of the late Mr Thomas Merchant. Mr John Rock, sen., was the purchaser, the price being L14 (?) the lot.
