      Obituary
      MR T. R. Dawson
We regret to have to record the death of Mr Thos. R. Dawson, which occurred on Friday afternoon last, at his residence, O'Dell-street, West Armidale, after a painful illness. Mr Dawson was nearly 66 years of age, and was one of the best known and most widely respected residents of the New England district. He was born at Dumaresq, and for very many years he held land at Wyndella, and only retired from active business a few years ago, when failing health made it necessary for him to come into Armidale to live. Mr Dawson's wife died about seven years ago. He is survived by one son and three daughters. The son is Mr R T Ddawson, who went to Western Australia to live shortly after his return from a lenthy period of active service. The daughters are Mrs R Roan and Misses Anne and Edith Dawson. Messrs. Ralph and John Dawson (Armidale), David Dawson (Tingha) and Ellis Dawson (Inverell district) are brothers of deceased, whilst Mrs R Waters, of Gara, near Armidale is a sister. A month or two ago Mr Dawson underwent a surgical operation in Sydney, but was not afforded any permanent relief. By his death the district loses one of the most upright and conscientious of men, and one whose name was a synomyn for the most prized qualities of citizenship. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon in the Presbyterian cemetery, the Rev H S Bantine conducting services at the house and graveside. Mr Piddington had charge of the funeral arrangements.
